Laboratory Symposium
In collaboration with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) the State Hygienic Laboratory holds an annual Laboratory Symposium. This is one-day event geared toward laboratory personnel involved in drinking water and wastewater. That includes chemists and laboratory specialists, water and wastewater operators, consultants, and other environmental professionals. The Symposium covers current rule and method updates, current water and wastewater topics and practical laboratory tips.
Biological Threat (BT) Wet Workshop
SHL offers a wet workshop annually for hands-on practice using the ASM Sentinel Level Clinical Laboratory Protocols. This in-person, full-day training course is appropriate for microbiologists working in clinical laboratories to improve or retain proficiency with the most current methods to rule out microorganisms suspected as biological threat agents . Course announcements, information, and registration details are sent through the Iowa Laboratory Response Network email group (ILRN).
