Testing Methods and Expertise

Testing methods and expertise include: 

  • 16S Ribosomal rDNA sequencing of nontuberculous mycobacteria
  • Acid-fast bacillus culture of clinical specimens   
  • Acid-fast bacillus identification
  • Fluorescent smear for acid-fast bacilli
  • Matrix assisted laser desorption time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) identification of nontuberculous mycobacteria
  • Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) and rifampin resistance PCR  
  • Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) susceptibility testing
  • Quantiferon plus testing for latent TB analysis (Serology)
