Mentoring, Training, and Practical Work Experience

In alignment with the UI strategy to prepare students to be experts in their disciplines and leaders in their fields, SHL offers undergraduate internships, graduate-level practicums, preceptorships, and student employment. These offerings provide unique opportunities for students to gain hands-on learning experience in public health lab science focused on infectious diseases, newborn screening and environmental health and management. Projects are aligned with national competencies in such areas as social/behavioral sciences, communications/informatics, diversity/culture, management/leadership, lab practice/safety, professionalism/ethics, program planning, quality, performance, and systems thinking.

If you are interested in applying for an internship please email your updated resume, cover letter and dates of availability directly to the mentor of the project you are interested in. That mentor will follow up with you to determine next steps in the process.
