The State Hygienic Laboratory is CLIA accredited to perform numerous molecular testing methods to detect the presence of a variety of infectious diseases in support of statewide surveillance programs and epidemiological investigations.
Testing Methods and Expertise
Testing methods and expertise include:
- Influenza/SARS-CoV-2 virus surveillance, testing, data reporting, and outbreak investigation.
- Nucleic acid amplification testing for Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis, and Mycoplasma genitalium in support of the Iowa Community-Based Screening Services (CBSS) program
- Nucleic acid amplification testing for viral and bacterial infections
- Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) analysis of clinical and environmental specimens in support of epidemiological studies and outbreak investigations
