Collaborate with Us

SHL has a strong history of collaborating with academic investigators as well as local, state, and federal public health partners. Contact us for information on ways our laboratory can support your next project.

Research at SHL

The State Hygienic Laboratory has an active research program aimed at advancing public health issues in important areas such as infectious disease surveillance, antimicrobial resistance, genetic sequencing, environmental health, food safety, biomonitoring, and newborn screening.

Scientists at SHL collaborate with researchers at the University of Iowa and other colleges and universities; private industry; state and federal agencies; and additional research partners.  Our scientists specialize in developing or modifying analytical procedures for measuring toxic compounds or pathogens in air, water, food and clinical samples.
