All three State Hygienic Lab locations (Coralville, Ankeny, and Lakeside) are closed in observance of Labor Day:

If you have samples to drop off:  

If it is an emergency, please contact the State Hygienic Laboratory Duty Officer via Campus Security at 319-335-5022. Calls are answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

  • Sample receipt Lockers are available from 6:00am to 12:00pm on Monday, September 7th. 

  • NOTE: Samples dropped off will not be handled until Tuesday, 9/8, be aware of sample holding times to prevent sample rejections.

    • Both refrigerated and non-refrigerated lockers are available in the Sample Receiving vestibule.  
    • Instructions are located on the wall next to the locker system. 

The following services will continue as usual during these days:  

  • Newborn Screening testing is performed seven days a week, including weekends and holidays. For Newborn screening questions please call 515-725-1632 or 515-725-1635 for assistance.   

  • Critical and outbreak testing will be performed on weekends and holidays as needed. 

  • The courier will run as usual, for Clinical and Newborn Screening courier questions over the holidays and weekend call STAT Courier Dispatch at 636-561-2518 or dispatch@stat-courier.com.
