The State Hygienic Laboratory will discontinue offering sequencing of SARS-CoV-2 on our test menu effective March 16, 2026.  We recognize that sequencing is no longer needed for surveillance purposes.  If it is needed in the future, we will reinstitute testing.

Please discontinue sending any specimens positive for SARS-CoV-2 for sequencing unless specifically requested by Iowa Health and Human Services or SHL.
