The State Hygienic Laboratory (SHL) is now performing a new Influenza SARS-CoV-2 RSV by Real-Time PCR test for the 2025-2026 Iowa respiratory virus surveillance season. The panel components of this test are Influenza A, Influenza B, SARS-CoV-2, and RSV. All labs in Iowa are asked to submit one Influenza positive and/or one SARS-CoV-2 positive to SHL for PCR, typing, subtyping, and sequencing per week per facility. This testing should be ordered through the “Flu/COVID/RSV Electronic Test Request Form” of the OpenELIS Web Portal. Results of the Influenza SARS-CoV-2 RSV and Influenza A Subtype tests will be reported back through the OpenELIS Web Portal. Sequencing results will not be reported back to the submitting facility.
