CDC management fellow joins SHL

Jenny Ostrowski
Oct. 31, 2017 -- A fellow from the CDC’s Public Health Associate Program (PHAP) joined the State Hygienic Laboratory on Oct. 2 to contribute to the laboratory's management programs and project development. Jenny Ostrowski is the third fellow since 2013 assigned to SHL through the CDC two-year, competitive training program.

Originally from Wisconsin, Ostrowski has traveled extensively to advance global health issues, education, and research and analysis in many countries, including Jordan, Greece, Uganda, Ecuador and, most recently, the United States. The PHAP program is an opportunity for her to use these skills to further SHL’s mission of protecting and improving quality of life in Iowa by providing reliable environmental and public health information.

Beth Hochstedler, director of SHL’s Office of Education, Training and Personal Development, and Lorelei Kurimski, director of the Office of Organization Development, are co-mentors for Ostrowski, who will follow a rotation model to gain experience in several SHL sections.
