CALS hosts diverse groups
The Hygienic Laboratory’s Center for the Advancement of Laboratory Science (CALS) – dedicated to education and community engagement – continues to host many diverse programs and meetings since its preview opening in June 2014. As of March, more than 3,500 people used the new facility on the University of Iowa Research Park campus in Coralville.Among those using the CALS’ fully functional training lab are the Kirkwood Community College’s KICKs Camp for children ages 9 through 15. The center’s conference rooms have been used by many groups, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Iowa State Legislature Fiscal Committee, the Environmental Protection Agency and numerous others.
No other place in the state offers students, educators, working professionals and community members a place dedicated to public health, environmental stewardship and laboratory science.
For more information or to reserve space in CALS, contact Drew Fayram, CALS coordinator, by email, by phone at (319) 335-4864 or by submitting a request online.
