Laboratory Support Supervisor - Administration and Finance Division
Ankeny, IA


The State Hygienic Laboratory at the University of Iowa, is seeking a Laboratory Support Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of Client Services, Central Services, Accessioning, and Media/Glassware, of the Branch Laboratory located in Ankeny Iowa. This position is a working supervisor role. The laboratory departments are responsible for handling incoming client inquiries, processing incoming specimens, and entering sample data into the laboratory information management system (LIMS). The units also fulfill outgoing collection container orders, prepare media and provide glassware for analytical sections. The Laboratory Support Supervisor is responsible for all operational aspects, including but not limited to, performance management, budgeting, payroll, team building, process improvement, and problem solving. This position is the liaison to the testing areas.

Environmental Laboratory Specialist - Environmental Health Division

The State Hygienic Laboratory in Coralville is looking for a Laboratory Specialist to prepare, and analyze samples, review instrument output and report results of environmental and/or food samples. A credential and criminal background check will be conducted on the final applicant. Finalist must be available to work some weekends and more than an 8 hour workday as needed. Must be willing to participate in SHL emergency response mission (e.g., collection and/or analysis of environmental or food samples).

Newborn Screening Daytime Supervisor - Newborn Screening
Ankeny, IA


The University of Iowa is seeking a Supervisor for the Newborn Screening (NBS) Laboratory, located at the Branch Laboratory of The State Hygienic Laboratory, in Ankeny Iowa. This is a CLIA certified laboratory. Under minimal supervision the Newborn Screening Daytime Supervisor will oversee the planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of resources and activities of the NBS. This position directs the daily operations of the unit, provides direct supervision to lab staff, and oversees quality control and quality assurance to meet CLIA standards. This role will be required to work occasional weekends and holidays.
